Why PAS Technicians Are Trained At the Dealership Level

While most car dealership technicians generally have far more experience and training than the average independent auto mechanic, this is not always the case. Although they are few and far between, you will find the occasional European auto repair shop that maintains dealership-level standards.

Performance Auto Specialists Technician Training Standards

At Performance Auto Specialists, we maintain a staff of four highly qualified Technicians – as well as a Technician Helper and a Service Tech.

Our initial training depends on the specific position we are trying to fill. However, each and every one of our technicians are ASE Master Certified.

If they do not have all their credentials when we onboard them, they have 6 months to complete their certification through the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence.

Since Performance Auto Specialists holds the ASE Blue Seal award, we must have at a minimum of 75% of our repair technicians certified. But because our aim is to provide unmatched, top-tier European auto service, we require 100%.

Additionally, our mechanics are required to get a minimum of 40 hours of continued training each year in order to stay at the top of their game and keep up with the latest trends in the European automotive industry.

In fact, our entire shop is looking forward to an extensive 3-day training event all the way in Nashville, Tennessee in 2024!

Why so much training?

What’s our purpose with all this training?

Cars, equipment, and tools are all constantly changing. If a technician does not continue his or her training, they will simply become too comfortable with the same old techniques and will never be able to keep up with critical industry changes.

Plus, we believe the extra training equips our technicians to diagnose vehicle problems quicker and more accurately – ensuring a better end result for our customers.
